Frankie Milner Injured in Auto Accident on Garland Rd in Dallas, TX

Dallas, TX — May 17, 2022, 84-year-old Frankie Forshee Milner was seriously injured in an auto accident on Garland Road in Dallas County.

Authorities say the incident happened around 1:25 p.m. on Garland Road at Old Gate Lane. Preliminary investigation suggests Milner was driving a Lexus RX 350 northeast on Garland in the left-turn lane. At the Old Gate intersection she turned left but allegedly failed to yield and the Lexus was hit on its passenger side by a southwest-bound Chrysler van.

Milner suffered serious injuries in the crash. The van driver reportedly received minor injuries.

Police think failure to yield was a key factor in this collision, and while I have no specific reason to doubt their word I wonder if that's really all there is to the story. People would be shocked to learn how many crucial details slip through the cracks during a "by the book" investigation--for instance, how many drivers were unfairly blamed for their crashes before the GM ignition switch defect was discovered?

Is it possible a simple and common driver mistake was behind this unfortunate crash? Of course. Is that the only possible explanation, though? I highly doubt it. If police were hasty in pointing fingers, maybe someone else should look again and see what was missed the first time.
