Commentary on Amy Miller, Paul Woida, Denise Durham DPW Truck Accident in Wauwatosa
Commercial vehicle hit and runs are always concerning, but one allegedly involving a municipal employee is very unusual. I can't help wondering if this is all some big misunderstanding. Is it possible a public employee would do something as wrong as fleeing a crash scene and causing another deadly crash? Absolutely, and it would warrant investigations into things like the driver's history, their employers safety protocols, the condition of the truck, and other common issues such as cell phone usage or intoxicated driving. But at the same time, it would be irresponsible to ignore the possibility that all of the people who lost their lives here were victims over factors they couldn't necessarily avoid. If for no other reason than to ensure people know they're getting the full story, it's important that complex deadly truck wrecks like this have experienced investigators handling things and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
