Commentary on Maria Loera Alleged DWI Accident on Sugar Road in Edinburg
If the allegations here are true, then surely the accused drunk driver will have their day in court to answer for what happened here. But what exactly does that do for the victims and families affected by their carelessness? Usually, not a whole lot. That's why it's important to understand the legal avenues which may be available following drunk driving accidents which can give folks access to much needed help. For example, one such possible avenue I deal with all the time is called dram shop law.

Essentially, dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. If a bar illegally over-serves someone, they're putting the public and even their own customers at risk. So why shouldn't they get their day in court, as well? Oftentimes, that only happens when people seek out experienced professionals who know the importance of investigating dram shop after accidents like this.
Whether or not that applies to this specific wreck isn't for me to say right now, but it's a possibility that should definitely not go overlooked. Perhaps more thorough independent investigations will help ensure those involved here get the help they need.
