Commentary on Truck Accident on Voss Avenue in Odem

I find that people are often quick to assume that a crossover wreck is easy to investigate. One of the vehicles is going to be on the wrong side of the road, right? Well, things aren't always so simple, and it's important the crash is handled by investigators who understand that.

Odem, TX Truck Accident Injures Man on Voss at Sellers

A while back, for example, a family came to me for a second opinion after, according to police, their loved one went over the center line and hit an 18-wheeler, killing them. After more thorough accident reconstructions, we found police got the facts completely wrong. What really happened was the 18-wheeler drifted left of center, so the victim swerved left to avoid it. The 18-wheeler then veered back into its original lane, and that's how the vehicles ended up in the lanes opposite that of the victim's original direction of travel.

Had there not been proper independent investigations into that crash, that family may never have learned the truth. Maybe nothing so unusual happened here, but it's one of the reasons I try to encourage people to ensure they have the right professionals looking into their situation.
