Columbia County, FL -- December 12, 2022, a driver was killed after an accident where a truck crashed off of I-10.

Florida Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash scene near Lake City at around 2:45 p.m. It appears that a lumber truck was traveling eastbound along the interstate when it somehow went off-road. There, the truck crashed into the embankment.

Rescue teams found the driver deceased at the scene. No further information about the accident is available at this time.

Commentary on Truck Accident on I-10 in Columbia County

There isn't much information surrounding what happened here, and it's not even clear if the crash is what killed the victim. For all we know, this was an unforeseeable, tragic medical emergency. Still, my concern is that folks tend to just overlook single-vehicle wrecks, especially when it comes to commercial trucks. I and anyone experienced with commercial vehicles know just how much can go wrong. Without the right experience and equipment, something important could slip through the cracks.
