Three Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on East Gillette Blvd in San Antonio, TX
San Antonio, TX — December 10, 2022, three people were hospitalized after two pickups and an SUV collided on East Gillette Boulevard in San Antonio.
Authorities say the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on East Gillette at Moursund Boulevard. Preliminary investigation suggests a Toyota Sienna was headed north when a southbound Ford F-150 pickup swerved left of center and hit it. The impact pushed the Toyota into a nearby Chevy Suburban.
The Toyota's 52-year-old driver was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. One passenger in his vehicle was seriously injured and another was critically injured; both were also taken to area hospitals. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation continues but police say the Ford driver showed no signs of being impaired.

Commentary on San Antonio Three-Vehicle Crash on Gillette Blvd
Folks tend to say crashes like this--where a driver allegedly swerved left of center for unclear reasons--are due to some kind of common but serious mistake. Impairment doesn't seem to be suspected, but other errors like distraction from a phone or losing control while speeding might still be near the top of people's speculative lists.

I'm not saying the accident can't be due to a mistake like that, but it's not right or fair to assume any such thing while investigators are still connecting the dots. There are many factors out of someone's control that could send their vehicle over the line. Vehicle failures or defects, poor road or weather conditions, a sudden medical emergency...the list goes on, and each of those possibilities deserves careful investigation in pursuit of the whole story. Maybe a simple explanation waits at the end of those efforts, but it's always best to be sure and the injured crash victims deserve real answers. Will police efforts alone be enough to get them?
