Commentary on Auto Accident at 22nd and 17th in Miami
Police don't seem to know quite yet how this terrible incident occurred. Locals suggested speeding may have been involved, and while I have no reason to doubt them (even though they didn't clarify who was allegedly speeding) I'd still suggest a full investigation by professionals to ensure the whole story is learned. Having said that, I wonder exactly how much attention police will devote to this before reporting their findings and moving on.
That's not meant to insult law enforcement, only to acknowledge that they're sometimes at the mercy of warring priorities and limited resources. Officers sometimes lack the time, tools, or training to carefully evaluate all the possible factors and learn the whole truth. When that happens and critical details slip through the cracks, victims and families in search of answers often come away empty-handed and that's clearly a big problem. That's why I often recommend that independent experts take another look and ensure all the blanks are properly filled. Would their efforts stand a better chance of getting important information to the people who need it?
