Quavious Betts Injured in Car Accident in Austin, TX

Austin, TX -- February 12, 2022, Quavious Betts was injured following an accident where two vehicles collided along Parmer.

Investigators gave information suggesting the vehicle happened near the intersection of West Parmer Lane and Highway 45 at around 7:34 p.m.

It appears that 34-year-old Quavious Betts was in a Chevy Equinox traveling northbound along Parmer. For reasons which can't be confirmed at this time, Betts's vehicle crashed into the back of a Chevy Malibu.

Due to the crash, Betts sustained injuries said to be incapacitating. No other injuries were reported. At this time, no further information is available.

Commentary on Quavious Betts Car Accident in Austin

Obviously it's important investigators determine the exact cause of the crash, but something I discuss frequently on this blog is how that may only be one aspect of a serious crash. Let me give an example of what I mean. It stands out anytime there's a crash like this where one person is seriously hurt, but everyone else appears to be okay. Why does this stand out?

Well, it stood out in a crash me and a colleague were discussing recently where police found that a woman was texting and driving when she rear-ended someone, but more thorough investigations showed she would have been fine had it not been for a defective airbag. That's rarely the sort of thing authorities look into on their own, and it's why I so often advocate for more thorough independent investigations. Currently, I don't see any information that would make this incident an exception to that.
