Commentary on Julia Ramirez Accident in Fort Bend County
Police mentioned alcohol as a possible factor here, but before anyone interprets their guess as proven facts it's important to remember that preliminary reports aren't the final word about a crash. Is it possible that the victim made poor choices that ended in a crash? Sure, and if so then there might be other issues to investigate--like whether a local bar is partly responsible for her injuries. However, unless clear evidence (like blood test results) confirms alcohol was a factor then it shouldn't be taken for granted.
There's a lot of reasons a car could run off a curve: Wet road surfaces, vehicle malfunctions or defects, medical emergencies, other cars forcing the victim to swerve to avoid them...some possibilities may be more common than others, but all of them must be carefully evaluated to make sure the true story is learned. I've seen more than enough victims unfairly blamed for crashes that were actually out of their hands; I certainly don't want to see any more. Will police take the time and care needed to get the whole story here, or should someone else fill in the blanks they often leave behind?
