Commentary on Caleb Jeppesen Accident near Wayne

It's concerning any time a truck crashes with another vehicle, but considering how few details preliminary reports provided it's important not to jump to conclusions. Such a collision can happen for all kinds of reasons, and throwing blame around without evidence isn't fair or prudent. Is it possible the truck driver recklessly crossed into the oncoming lanes? Certainly. However, is it just as possible the victim's vehicle went over the center line? Absolutely. It's even possible some unusual factor neither driver could have foreseen or prevented led to the crash.

As always the best course of action is to find the facts and evidence that tell the whole story, and that tends to require more thorough investigations than police may conduct. Frankly, their investigators don't always have the time, training, or equipment to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks. Understanding why that is and what else can be done to get victims and families the answers they need are crucial parts of resolving matters like this. Considering a man lost his life here, any step toward ensuring his loved ones get the truth is a step worth taking.
