Commentary on Ignacio Amaya Jr. Truck Accident in Hidalgo County

When it comes to details such as these, I try to remind people it's best to take those details with a grain of salt. I have no specific information suggesting these details are inaccurate, but people come to me all the time about serious wrecks where police missed something important or just outright got the facts wrong. It's important to consider that possibility here until all the facts are clear.

Not long ago, for example, a family came to me about a similar crossover wreck. Police said the victim drifted left of center and hit an 18-wheeler, but the evidence uncovered by independent investigations showed otherwise. What actually happened was the truck veered over, and the victim swerved in an attempt to avoid the truck. They ended up in the truck's original lane, though, so authorities simply jumped to conclusions without looking at the facts.

While I can't say if anything like that happened here, I see no reason why there shouldn't still be independent investigations to ensure the evidence can speak for itself.
