Three Injured in LocalLink Bus Crash on McComas Street in Baltimore, MD
Baltimore, MD — December 7, 2022, three people were injured when a Baltimore LocalLink bus ran down an embankment and crashed off McComas Street.
Authorities say the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. along westbound McComas. Preliminary investigation suggests the LocalLink bus was headed west when it may have lost traction due to the wet road surface. The bus ran off the road and rolled down an embankment, then overturned on some nearby railroad tracks.
The bus operator and two passengers were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.

Commentary on LocalLink Bus Accident in Baltimore
Right now there's no telling what happened here, and until more facts are available it's best not to jump to any conclusions. Even if investigators' first guesses about the wet road being an issue are correct, there are still questions about whether the bus driver was operating safely for conditions and if the bus itself was in proper shape to handle the hazard. Crashes involving commercial or government vehicles are already plenty complicated without trying to fill in the blanks with guesses.
The best way to make sure the people hurt in this crash get the answers and help they deserve is to find the clear facts of what happened and evidence supporting them. Unfortunately a standard police investigation doesn't always take the time or care to find those, so I often recommend that independent professionals step in and have another look. At the very least the crash victims deserve to know they have the whole story; anything beyond that would depend on what the story is.
