John David Mays Injured in Car Accident in Falls County, TX

Falls County, TX -- November 20, 2022, John David Mays was injured due to an accident where multiple vehicles collided.

Investigators said that the crash took place at around 1:40 p.m. along Highway 7 at Highway 320.

It appears that 19-year-old John David Mays was in a Honda Civic traveling northeast along the roadway. Ahead, a vehicle turning left across southbound lanes crashed into a Dodge Ram 3500. This sent the truck into oncoming lanes where it hit Mays's vehicle.

Mays was said to have incapacitating injuries due to the crash. Police say the truck driver, Roy Gene Burger, may have been injured, as well. Right now, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

People tend to look at crashes like this and just assume all the facts are pretty straight forward. The reality, though, is that it's important to have investigators who can anticipate potentially complex and unusual contributing factors. For example, whatever caused the crash, there are times when someone's injuries are due to something like a faulty airbag or seatbelt. That's rarely something a police report is going to catch.
