Commentary on Kristopher Godinez Accident in Cedar Hill
I don't have any particular reason to doubt what police say happened here, but I've also seen them overlook important details often enough to wonder whether there's any more to the story. Failure to yield while turning was cited as the main reason for the crash, but did investigators look into any other potential factors? What about road conditions? Vehicle malfunctions or defects? Both drivers' speeds? What about anything else, inside or outside of the vehicles, that could have contributed to the crash?
Things don't have to be more complicated than the narrative in reports, but I know from long experience that sometimes if there's a "good enough" explanation that the investigation stops there and misses other critical details. If police might have let something important slip through the cracks, should someone else have another look?
