Investigators said that the crash took place at around 6:30 p.m. in the area of I-77 and State Route 212. It appears that a box truck traveling along the interstate somehow ran off-road and hit a pole before then overturning. This caused debris to strike multiple vehicles on the highway.

Commentary on Box Truck Accident on I-77 in Lawrence Township

Folks may see a truck losing control and just assume the truck driver must have done something wrong. That's usually what happens, but without proper investigations, there's no telling what may slip through the cracks. One example I discuss a lot here is mechanical issues. They're more common than folks may realize, and unfortunately authorities rarely have the right tools and training to look into that sort of thing. Perhaps something would turn up here with more thorough independent investigations.
