Commentary on Pedestrian Accident on I-435 in Kansas City

I don't expect police to have all the dots connected so soon after this tragic accident, but it seems like right now there are a lot more questions than answers. Why did the victim initially crash into the median? Did they just make a mistake, or did something else happen? Was anything wrong with the Buick? Did it blow a tire? What were road and weather conditions there? What about lighting, since this happened half an hour before sunrise? Why did the victim then leave the SUV and run through the highway? How visible were they? Was the truck driver awake, alert, and paying careful attention to the road? Were other drivers able to avoid the victim before the collision?

Questions like that aren't about muddying the waters or making accusations. I'm really just saying what I always do: When people are hurt or killed in accidents like this, it's always best to understand how and why that happened. That means looking into all the specifics, not just the obvious details police observe at the scene. At the very least the victim's loved ones should know they have the whole story; will someone make sure they get it?
