Commentary on Nalaka Silva Kavirathna Train Accident in Inez

People may see the apparent detail of the victim being at a prior to the incident and just assume all of this must have been drunk driving. I'm not going to make that conclusion without knowing all the facts. Now, it's obviously important investigators follow up on that, especially since it's possible said bar is actually liable for this tragedy if they illegally over-served the victim. But at the same time, train wrecks like this aren't always as simple as folks may think. Police don't often look into whether or not the signals worked, if signage was at the crossing, if lighting is poor, if the victim's vehicle had faulty brakes, if vegetation was blocking view of the tracks, etc. Likely or not, getting a family the answers they deserve means ensuring nothing important slips through the cracks. Are those steps being taken here?
