Crockett County, TX -- November 7, 2022, Juan Hernandez Rodriguez III was injured following an accident where his vehicle overturned.

Officials were called out to the area of RM 2083 mile marker 418 at approximately 4:47 p.m. It appears that 44-year-old Juan Hernandez Rodriguez III was in a Jeep Wrangler traveling southbound along the roadway. Somehow, the vehicle ran off-road where it overturned and hit a utility pole.

Rodriguez was taken from the scene with injuries described as incapacitating. No one else appeared to have been involved. The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.

With my years of experience, I know that there are all kinds of reasons something like this can happen. Even if some possibilities are unlikely, they're worth considering when it comes to people getting the help they need. That's why it bothers me when people just assume the driver did something wrong. Perhaps that happened here, or perhaps the driver had no control over the situation. Either way, there could be steps to get them some help that authorities may not be equipped to look into on their own. Are steps being taken to consider those options?
