Commentary on Three-Vehicle Crash by Loop 410 in San Antonio
Police aren't sure yet why the pickup driver may have run the red light, and because there are plenty of explanations for that--some within the driver's control and some not--it's best to withhold judgment until facts and evidence can tell the whole story. Maybe the crash was triggered by a driver mistake like simple recklessness or hindered judgment due to intoxication, but for all anyone knows the pickup just lost traction on a wet road or its brakes failed and the driver couldn't do much more than hold on and pray.
I'm not saying I know better than anyone else what happened at that intersection, and further investigation might find a simple and common explanation. Sadly a lot of similar accidents happen because of momentary inattention or alcohol's influence, and impairment might mean there are other urgent details to address, but the most important thing is to find the truth. Any steps beyond that would depend largely on what that truth turns out to be.
