Commentary on Reynaldo Gutierrez Jr. Alleged DWI Accident in McAllen
With details like these, folks will no doubt want to see some accountability if the accusations turn out to be true. That accountability may not be so simple, though. While a drunk driver can obviously face consequences, they're not always the only ones to blame.

For example, these reports say the runaway driver was coming out of a bar parking lot. If the driver was over-served by that bar, that establishment may also be responsible for contributing to the victim's injuries.
Put simply, Texas dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Not only does making them liable for a victim's injuries get victims some much needed help, it can also ensure they clean up their act before more people get hurt.
