Commentary on New Mexico Man Car Accident on US 54 in Hartley County

People see a single-vehicle wreck, and their immediate assumption is that the driver did something wrong. Certainly, things like speeding, alcohol, and cell phone usage are common. But even unlikely possibilities like mechanical issues or defective parts should get attention. Was there a tire blowout? A medical emergency? Did this apparent construction zone contribute to the crash in any way? If authorities aren't asking these kinds of questions, the crash would likely be better off in the hands of more experienced professionals.
