Motorcyclist Injured in Truck Accident on FM 2222 in Austin, TX

Austin, TX -- May 13, 2022, one person was injured following an accident where a truck hit them along FM 2222.

Authorities said that the accident happened at around 3:02 p.m. along FM 2222 at the intersection Dry Creek Drive.

Officials said that a 20-year-old man was on a motorcycle traveling westbound along FM 2222. At Dry Creek, authorities say that an oncoming semi-truck failed to yield and crashed with the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist had injuries said to be incapacitating. No one else was hurt. Authorities said the motorcycle's speed may have been a factor, but additional details are unconfirmed.

When police bring up the possibility of the victim speeding, I certainly wouldn't discount it without clear evidence to the contrary. However, I'm always skeptical due to what I've seen throughout my career regarding victims who were on motorcycles. Simply put, a lot of people are negatively biased against motorcyclists, meaning they can jump to conclusions or believe false claims of them being reckless. It's just another reasons thorough investigations are so crucial for victims and families, and that often means pursuing experienced professionals independent of the police.
