Pedestrian Injured in Truck Accident on State Street in Aubrey, TX

Aubrey, TX — May 25, 2022, a 41-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash involving a commercial truck on State Street in Aubrey.

Authorities say the incident happened around 3:25 p.m. on State Street near Wright Street. Preliminary investigation suggests a Freightliner truck was parked in the grass on the side of an alley as a Ram 1500 pickup with an attached trailer passed through the alley to its right.

According to police the victim was walking in a space between the two trucks when the Freightliner slipped in the muddy grass somehow. The truck slid sideways and hit the pedestrian, which pushed him into the side of the pickup's trailer.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries in the accident and was transported to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Commentary on Truck Accident on State Street in Aubrey

It sounds like uneven terrain caused the commercial truck to shift and hit the pedestrian here. If so some might call that an unfortunate but largely unavoidable accident and think little else of it, but there may be more the story that isn't obvious at first.

Am I saying things have to be more complicated? Of course not. However, the years have taught me that sometimes police are content just to put together a rough sketch of events without ever really figuring out how or why things went that way. That kind of incomplete picture sometimes causes trouble down the road when victims or families go looking for answers or help, so it's best they're informed about what investigators should really be looking for--and who may stand a better chance of finding it.
