Commentary on Fatal Big Rig Accident on Kamm Avenue in Fresno County

If it's true that a commercial truck ran a stop sign here, that seems about as damning as a crash can get. But even if those claims are confirmed, it's important for victims and families to have as much evidence as possible telling their side of the story. Not only is a commercial trucking company going to make them prove every shred of evidence against them, but it's even possible the seemingly straight-forward facts are anything but.

For example, I handled a situation not long ago involving a semi-truck driver texting and driving. Through independent investigations, it turned out that the driver was texting his supervisor. This idiot would require drivers to respond to all of his texts and calls immediately, and if they didn't do so quickly enough, they'd get in trouble. It was only a matter of time before a driver simply trying to keep their job got someone hurt.

I'm not saying anything like that happened here, but it's one of the reasons independent investigations are so important after a commercial truck wreck. It's not just about getting answers for victims and families; it's about ensuring they have the tools to get the help they need and to see those responsible for their hardships held fully accountable.
