Commentary on Truck Accident on I-40 near Holbrook

Over the years I've learned that crashes between commercial trucks often become lengthy and high-stakes games of "hot potato" between the trucking companies involved. Most won't accept responsibility without a fight, and while they bicker back and forth about what "really" happened on I-40 the victim's loved ones may be stuck waiting for answers and help.

Some may wonder if that's really possible here given what the news says, but neither news nor preliminary police reports are set in stone--which businesses know very well. Leaving their interests aside for the moment, it's also important to investigate carefully to ensure that no one is unfairly blamed if a crash was actually out of their hands. If bad roads or a vehicle malfunction sent that UPS truck off-course, for example, then it clearly wouldn't be right to point fingers at the driver. That's why it's crucial not to take anything for granted; everyone is best served by knowing the whole and true story as told by clear evidence.
