Commentary on Cayla Gillis Accident in Hays County

Police suspected the injured driver might have been under the influence of alcohol when she crashed. They mentioned requesting a subpoena for her treatment records, and depending on what those reveal there may be further questions about whether a local bar is partly responsible for her injuries.

However, as alcohol is currently nothing but an unproven theory it's important to look into other potential explanations as well. The story is really just that a pickup went off the road and there's a lot of possible reasons for that, like a wet or uneven road surface, blown tires, vehicle malfunctions or defects, or even a medical emergency, just to name a few.

Until all those and others are looked into during a full investigation it's important not to prematurely rush to judgment. Click below to read more about some other possible reasons for solo crashes--and who might do the best job investigating them.
