Commentary on Caren Yamileth Welchez Argueta Truck Accident in Katy

When people see a vehicle hit the back of a tractor-trailer, they just assume the victim is entirely at fault. Frankly, that's often true. However, there can be unusual circumstances to consider.

For example, I was discussing a recent crash with a colleague in which a driver was texting and driving before hitting a semi. What stood out, though, was that the victim's injuries were far more serious than the damage to the vehicles let on. Further investigations revealed that they actually had a defective airbag, meaning that defective safety feature was primarily responsible for their injuries.

I can't say anything like that did or didn't happen here without knowing more facts, but it's important not to jump to conclusions and to instead focus on how folks can get the help they need.
