Driver Injured in Truck Rollover Accident on Route 1 in South Brunswick Township, NJ

South Brunswick, NJ -- November 9, 2022, one person was injured due to an accident where a semi-truck overturned along Route 1.

Investigations indicated that the accident took place at around 10:11 a.m. along Route 1 at Promenade Boulevard. It appears that a semi-truck hauling plywood was traveling along the road when police believe a car cut off the truck. This caused the truck to swerve, then overturn. As a result, the driver had serious injuries. Right now, no further information is available.

With a crash like this, folks will understandably focus on the alleged actions of the car involved. That's certainly important, as people should face appropriate consequences for their mistakes. But the injuries sustained here may not necessarily be all due to that car's actions. With commercial trucks, there must also be an investigation into whether or not the truck itself held up reasonably or if it failed to adequately protect the driver.

This is an issue in the trucking industry that simply doesn't get the attention it deserve. Manufacturers continue to build trucks without any regard for protecting drivers despite the technology existing and being reasonably attainable. As a result, crashes which could be minor turn serious or even fatal. Is that something investigators are looking into here?
