Commentary on Eliezer Rojas Garcia Accident in Warren Twp
Reports suggest the victim may have lost control during a passing maneuver. Maybe that's more or less all there is to say here, but before anyone decides that it's important to look again and see if there's more to the story.
Saying a driver lost control is one thing, but explaining exactly how and why that happened is another. Sometimes it's a matter of driver mistakes like speeding or distraction, but in many cases extenuating factors just get overlooked. Poor road conditions, vehicle malfunctions or defects, or even the big rig somehow being more directly involved in the victim going off-course must all be considered, if only to rule them out.
Do things have to be more complicated than a passing attempt gone wrong? No. Could they be, though? Absolutely, and that's why I so often suggest professionals with the right tools and training look again to ensure nothing was missed. Maybe their findings will match those of police, but I've seen plenty of cases where they turned up vital information that otherwise would have slipped through the cracks.
The victim deserves the benefit of the doubt and the knowledge that every effort was made to find the whole truth. Are steps being taken to see that done in Warren Township?
