Commentary on Boca Raton Man Truck Accident on SR-70 in Highlands County
Something I talk about a lot on this blog is taking early reports with a grain of salt. Authorities aren't always as thorough as folks may think. To be clear, I have no specific reason to doubt these reports, however any crash involving a motorcyclist is worth extra attention to ensure no one was unfairly biased against the rider. It's far more common than folks may realize.
Put simply, a lot of people just assume that motorcyclists are reckless drivers, so they tend to blame them without actually knowing all the facts. Even authorities can do this. Not even that long ago, our independent investigations helped to reveal that an investigating officer completely misinterpreted witness testimony to say that the motorcyclist killed in the crash was speeding and weaving through traffic. In reality, all he did was pass someone on the left before a semi-truck cut him off.
Again, I'm not trying to say that happened here. It's simply that the truth in that example may never have come to light had there not been more thorough, unbiased investigations. Would similar efforts confirm that police were thorough here, or would they show there's more to this story?
