Commentary on Leroy Thomas O'Neal Truck Accident in Panola County

Something I talk about a lot on this blog is not taking initial details at face value. As competent as authorities may be, they often overlook important factors. But is that still true with allegations as damning as saying someone failed to yield? It sure can be true.

For example, I handled this situation involving a work truck driver on his phone texting when he caused a wreck. As open-and-shut as that seemed, our investigations revealed something more concerning. It turned out he was responding to a supervisor who would get mad and threaten workers if they didn't respond to his incessant messaging quickly enough.

What folks would have seen as some straight forward case of a reckless driver turned out to be a company putting countless lives at risk due to one supervisor's ludicrous behavior. Making sure the consequences match the mistakes is important both for getting people the help they need and for helping to ensure others aren't hurt by actions which could have been prevented. Perhaps investigations would show that to be true here, as well.
