Commentary on Pedestrian Accident on I-84 near Jerome

As usual, preliminary reports leave a great many unanswered questions that may be key to understanding what really happened here. Why did the victim pull over? Why'd she exit and walk away? Was something wrong with the vehicle--did it break down or run out of gas, for example? Did the victim simply wish to stretch her legs? After getting out, where exactly did she walk? Did she start to cross the road, walk along a travel lane, or remain on the shoulder? Since this apparently happened in broad daylight with clear weather, did anything else make her hard to see? Why precisely did the truck not avoid her? Was the driver awake, alert, and paying attention to his surroundings?

None of those questions and the many others like them are meant to overcomplicate things or point fingers. It's just that only the facts, found by a thorough investigation, should tell the story. At the very least the victim's loved ones deserve to know the truth; will police take the time and care needed to get it for them?
