Commentary on Dump Truck Accident on Dawkins Road in Fort Wayne

Folks may be quick to see that the area was foggy at the time and just assume that explains everything. However, things are rarely that simple. There should be a proper reconstruction to determine if a reasonably prudent professional driver would have made this same mistake.

There could certainly be a situation where fog is relatively thick, and an approaching video either doesn't have their lights on or is driving at excessive speeds. At the same time, however, it's possible for a truck driver not to exercise extreme caution in the hazardous conditions. As such, they could pull out in front of a vehicle that a more reasonable truck driver would have been able to see without any issues.

It's not clear how exactly all of this could have been avoided, but serious injuries more than warrant efforts to get the facts. If authorities are just going to pin all of this on the weather, the crash would likely be better off in the hands of more experienced professionals.
