Ovie Ekuerhare, Moses Ajih Killed in Car Accident on Wilcrest Dr in Houston, TX

UPDATE (February 8, 2023): The victims of this accident were later identified as 26-year-old driver Moses Ajih and 24-year-old passenger Ovie Ekuerhare.

Houston, TX — October 31, 2022, two people died after a car ran off Wilcrest Drive and became submerged in a bayou in Houston.

Authorities say the incident happened early Monday morning on Wilcrest near Beechnut Street. Preliminary investigation suggests a southbound Toyota Camry with two occupants ran off the road between two bridges on Wilcrest and crashed down into a bayou below, then sank in the water.

Two people were discovered inside the vehicle once it was pulled from the water. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

No further information is currently available.

Right now there's no telling how this terrible incident occurred, and I think most would agree that it's not right to make any assumptions as authorities keep trying to put the pieces together. I can only hope that they have the forensic knowledge and equipment to look into all the possible explanations, both those within someone's control and those out of it.

It's always best to investigate these matters carefully and find what answers can be had. I would imagine those young men's loved ones have many urgent questions about the cause and circumstances of their loss, and they deserve as much of the story as can be found. Bringing that to them should be the main priority; anything else would likely depend on what is learned.
