Austin, TX -- October 30, 2022, one person was killed due to an accident where a vehicle struck them along the interstate.
Authorities said that the collision occurred along northbound lanes in the area of Airport Boulevard and 45th Street at around 4:30 a.m. The exact details surrounding the accident are unavailable at this time. A vehicle hit the victim, resulting in fatal injuries. It's unclear if the driver remained at the scene.

Folks tend to write off accidents like this simply because the interstate is a dangerous place for a pedestrian to be. That's true, but we really don't know what happened here.
It could certainly just be someone making a mistake and walking across a highway. However, they may have been safely on the shoulder changing a tire. They may have been by a well-lit disabled vehicle. There could be an unusual situation like one I handled where a man walked onto a freeway without realizing it because a business over-served him alcohol to the point he couldn't tell which way was which.
At the end of the day, the evidence needs to speak for itself. That's not going to happen if everyone just sits around jumping to conclusions. If nothing else,the victim's loved ones deserve better than that.
