Commentary on Riley Reynolds Truck Accident in Johnson County

There are some important details surrounding crashes like this which folks don't always consider. Even when legal, a tractor-trailer making a u-turn is dangerous. Plain and simple. I've even known some businesses to fire drivers for even attempting such a maneuver. But it's important in a situation like this to determine how exactly the crash could have been avoided.

It's unclear how visible this truck was, whether or not any co-workers were outside waving down traffic, or if there were any kind of visibility markers. As such, one can't help but wonder how any reasonable driver could see a trailer stretched across a dark roadway in time to avoid hitting it. Maybe a reasonably prudent driver couldn't which could mean the truck driver is responsible for what happened here.

Of course, that would likely require far more thorough independent investigations. Getting clear evidence and letting it speak for itself is often the most prudent way to ensure a grieving family can get the resolution they deserve. That's especially true if someone out there needs to be held accountable for this young man's death.
