Commentary on Nery Najarro Accident in Houston

Reports about this crash mostly just paint a picture of a turn gone wrong, but there's little insight available as to how or why the pickup suddenly swerved northward. Did the driver just misjudge the turn and lose control, or is there more to the story? Did the truck hit a wet or unstable area of road and lose traction? Was something wrong with the vehicle, like a malfunction or defect? Did it blow a tire? Did the driver have some kind of medical emergency? Is it possible he was impaired? If so, where did the drinks come from?

That's just a handful of the many possibilities that must be carefully investigated to be sure the whole story is learned. Without diligent efforts many people may be tempted just to jump to some quick conclusions about the driver screwing up, but if the crash wasn't his fault that's obviously unfair. He deserves the benefit of the doubt and to know that someone will look carefully and learn the whole story of what happened. Anything beyond that would probably depend on what is learned.
