While it's not unusual to see so few details about a serious crash, my concern is that authorities in Austin typically aren't keen with expanding on these details--at least not in public.

The reason that's concerning is because a lot of crashes like this end up involving alcohol, but authorities don't seem to bother talking about it. The public deserves to know about the harm caused to their community, and drunk driving is a big part of that since it's not just drivers who can be held responsible. The alcohol providers can also face consequences under dram shop law if they illegally over-serve the drivers.

I'm not saying that happened here, of course, but I address serious accidents to remind people how important it is to get the facts and to know their rights. Not only can that help get much needed assistance, it can help make the roads safer for everyone.
