Commentary on Commercial Truck Accident on I-44 in Pulaski County

With a single vehicle wreck like this, most folks will just assume the driver did something wrong. Quite frankly, that's the most common explanation, considering things like speeding, distracted driving, and fatigue. But jumping to conclusions isn't going to help anyone. Besides, there are certain possibilities that authorities typically aren't equipped to look into which can cause a serious truck wreck without the driver having any control over the situation.

For example, mechanical issues are a lot more common than folks realize. Commercial trucks are complex machines, meaning all kinds of things can go wrong. That's on top of the fact that some trucking companies simply neglect to maintain their trucks, and many drivers are forced to operate vehicles in terrible condition. Then, something fails, and they get hurt just trying to provide for their families.

I can't say what all happened here, but steps should be take to explore these areas and ensure those involved have every opportunity to get any help available to them.
