Commentary on Ruth Mayes Accident in Frankfort

So far there's not much information on exactly what happened here, but that's not uncommon so soon after a collision. These matters can be highly complicated to figure out, and that complexity only increases when a commercial truck is involved.

Unfortunately police alone don't often have the time, tools, or training to get the whole story and ensure nothing important slips through the cracks. I don't mean that as an insult to their hard work, just as an acknowledgment that they're often at the mercy of competing priorities and limited time to spend on any one thing.

It's for that reason I try to remind people about other potential ways to get answers after a serious truck wreck like this--including working with independent investigators rather than hoping police will be as thorough as is needed. Making sure the crash is in the hands of experienced professionals can be a vital first step to getting people the help they deserve.
