Commentary on Rockdale Man Truck Accident on Highway 36 in Callahan County

It's important for folks to understand that these early details rarely tell the whole story. I have no specific information to contradict these reports, however I have experience with similar incidents where it turned out police were wrong about what happened.

Not long ago, in fact, I handled a crossover wreck where police blamed the victim only for us to find out it was the other driver that screwed up. The officer thought the victim crossed the center line and hit an 18-wheeler because they were in the lane the 18-wheeler was in originally. However, evidence showed that the 18-wheeler went across the center line first, and the victim had swerved left to avoid it.

Maybe nothing like that happened here, and perhaps authorities hit the nail on the head with their accounts. But steps should always be taken to ensure nothing important slipped through the cracks. There could be extenuating circumstances here which need to be considered.
