Commentary on Teen Killed in Truck Accident on I-15 in North County

It's just tragic to see any fatal crash, and I hope people aren't too quick to jump to conclusions. Frankly, this sort of thing is usually due to driver error, both in that the crash involves a teenager and also that their vehicle hit a vehicle on the shoulder. But not only could there be unusual details to consider here, there is also an issue more common than people realize which rarely gets the attention it deserves.

While I'd need to see more evidence to know what exactly happened here, an issue far too often overlooked is trucks that park along highways without doing so safely. There are laws regarding when and where trucks can stop, and there are rules for how to do it. While this is just one possible factor to consider, learning about can help folks understand why getting answers should be the priority for the families affected by this awful event.
