Guadalupe Palacios Injured in Car Accident on Wilson Rd in Harris County, TX

Harris County, TX — August 28, 2022, 39-year-old Guadalupe Palacios was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident on Wilson Road in Harris County.

Authorities say the incident happened around 11:50 p.m. on Wilson Road near Atascocita Road. Preliminary investigation suggests Palacios was a passenger in a Chevy Malibu headed north in the #1 lane of Wilson Road. The car's driver allegedly failed to maintain a single lane and veered right, causing the car to spin and leave the road. It hit a curb and a wooden utility pole, then overturned and rolled into a grassy field.

Palacios was ejected during the rollover and suffered serious injuries. The driver received minor injuries; investigators suspected he was under the influence of alcohol and collected blood samples for testing.

Commentary on Guadalupe Palacios Accident in Harris County

It's obviously serious any time alcohol comes up as a potential factor in a crash, in no small part because of the possibility that a local business illegally over-served the driver and played a role in hurting someone.

Hundreds of people hurt in DWI accidents have called the firm, and many of them had no idea that an alcohol vendor can be held liable for over-serving people who then cause harm. Despite the clear danger that over-service poses, some establishments routinely do it and then send their patrons out on the road to hurt--even killed--themselves and others. That's why Texas dram shop law allows victims and families to see out and confront those alcohol providers for their negligence and hold them accountable.

With all of that said, alcohol doesn't appear to be a proven factor yet. I've seen many instances where police brought it up just because it's common, only for evidence to show it wasn't involved. It's important not to take that claim as gospel truth, or else one risks something important slipping through the cracks. Hopefully authorities are being as thorough as the situation calls for and considering other possible reasons for the wreck.
