Pedro Van Hoecke Injured in Accident on Triple Crown Drive in Flower Mound, TX

Flower Mound, TX — March 19, 2022, 53-year-old Pedro Van Hoecke was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident on Triple Crown Drive in Flower Mound.

Authorities say the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Triple Crown at West Windsor Drive. Preliminary investigation suggests Van Hoecke was a passenger in an electric golf cart traveling west on Windsor. Investigators allege he fell out of the cart as it turned left onto Triple Crown and landed on the roadway.

Van Hoecke suffered serious injuries in the accident. The vehicle's three other occupants were unhurt.

Police alleged that the golf cart's driver was under the influence of alcohol and collected blood samples for testing.

No further information is currently available.

Commentary on Pedro Van Hoecke Accident in Flower Mound

It seems police think the cart's driver was impaired. If tests prove them right, there may be some further questions. For instance: How fast was the golf cart traveling when it turned? Was it in good condition? Where did the group come from before the accident occurred, and what did they do there?

Some may not see the need to clarify how the people in that cart spent their evening, but knowing what happened before an accident is often helpful to understanding how and why it happened. For instance, if the men were at a bar or restaurant and the driver was over-served alcohol there then that business may be partly responsible for the victim's injuries under dram shop law.

I don't know more than preliminary reports say and I'm not making any accusations, either at the people in the accident or any local businesses. I mention dram shop law because police thought drinking might be a factor, and people hurt by intoxication--someone else's or their own--deserve to know their rights and to receive whatever help the law can give them.
