Commentary on Box Truck Accident on Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township
When it comes to rear-end collisions like this, it's important not to simply assume that the rear driver did something wrong. Now, the most likely explanation, of course, is that the rear truck driver did do something wrong, like speeding, distracted driving, or following too closely. One has to wonder why a driver--a professional, no less--failed to see a large truck ahead.
With that said, another commercial truck driving slowly can sometimes be an unnecessary hazard. It's important to consider exactly how slowly the victim's truck was going and whether or not it was clearly visible to approaching motorists. If other drivers had no issues going around the truck, the dump truck driver may have some explaining to do. Otherwise, evidence could show that this particular incident isn't as black-and-white as it may seem.
