Commentary on Apple Valley Rollover Crash

Crashes involving teenagers, while just as serious as any other (maybe even more so), don't always get the careful investigation they deserve. People sometimes write them off as unfortunate byproducts of inexperienced or reckless young people taking risks behind the wheel, prematurely pinning the blame on them without waiting for all the facts.

Rather than making any such assumption, it's better to conduct a thorough investigation that accounts for all the possible causes and contributing factors. Things like dangerous road hazards, tire blowouts, or even vehicle defects may not be particularly common, but they cause wrecks every day and can't be ignored when seeking the whole story.

Unfortunately those are often overlooked if officers and the public focus too much on common factors or the perceived carelessness of youth. Turning a blind eye to other possibilities can be a serious problem if someone is blamed for a wreck that was actually out of their hands. Will that be an issue here, and should independent investigators step in to make sure it isn't?
