Commentary on Fatal Truck Accident on I-696 in Southfield

With a situation like this, my main concern is usually whether or not the crash is getting the attention it deserves. Folks may see a truck not slowing down for traffic and just assume that makes this all open-and-shut. In reality, any crash involving a commercial truck is going to bring significant challenges for the victims and families. That's usually due to the simple fact there's a company involved doing everything in their power to avoid responsibility.

Whether it's blaming the victim, blaming those around the truck, denying details, refusing to cooperate, or any other stonewalling strategy, trucking companies have a myriad of ways to put barriers between families and the resolutions they deserve. I've had companies blame ambulances when their driver was on drugs. I've had companies say their driver doesn't own a cell phone. I've even had one situation where a representative literally stole a victim's headlights from the yard just so they could lie about how visible the victim was at the time of the crash.

In each situation, cutting through the excuses and getting the families the help they needed meant anticipating these strategies and meeting them with clear evidence. Folks can get the resolutions they deserve, but they need the right people with the right tools guiding them through the minefield that follows a commercial truck wreck. The article below helps to explain this process and why experienced professionals are valuable allies.
