Commentary on Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-10 in San Antonio

It seems like there's still a lot of work to do here to determine the cause and circumstances of the collision, but in the meantime at least there's some silver lining in that nobody seems to have been badly hurt. Having said that, it's still important to take crashes like this seriously and gather proof of what happened just in case things take a turn. I've seen some situations where injuries originally thought to be minor were really anything but.

I handled a crash not too long ago, for example, where a driver reportedly suffered minor injuries after a collision with an 18-wheeler. The hospital sent him home after telling him to take aspirin for his sore back, but a few days later the pain was nearly immobilizing. Further tests revealed that "minor" injury was actually a ruptured disk in his spine that required surgery and lengthy rehabilitation.

I'm not saying anything like that happened or will happen in San Antonio, and of course I hope not. That said, getting our client the help he needed happened in part because we were thorough and took the crash seriously from the get-go. As they say, "better safe than sorry." A complicated wreck involving several vehicles--particularly one where a commercial truck was involved--is no exception to that.
