I often have folks wonder why I even talk about crashes like this. Police say someone failed to yield. What could be possible require further explanation? Well, with 30 years of experience comes the knowledge that a serious crash is rarely that simple. There can be important questions one wouldn't know to ask without that experience.

For example, the occupants of one vehicle were hurt while the other was not. While often just a case of dumb luck, that can sometimes be a sign of more serious issues. Defective airbags, faulty seatbelts, a poorly designed or constructed vehicle--these are things authorities rarely look into on their own. Ignoring those issues could let something crucial slip through the cracks. Were steps ever taken here to ensure the victims were getting all the facts?
