UPDATE (October 12, 2022): New sources identified the man killed in the accident as 60-year-old Rafael Antonio Simpson Lacayo. Police describe the suspect vehicle only as blue with damage to the right side. No further information is available at this time.

Port Arthur, TX -- October 9, 2022, one person was killed after an accident where a vehicle hit them, then fled the scene.

In initial details, it appears the incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. off the corner of Highway 347 and Woodlawn Road.

Officials said that an unidentified pedestrian was walking when an unknown vehicle struck them. That vehicle then fled the scene. The victim sustained fatal injuries due to the accident.
